Visit, Cooperation, and Research Activities Conducted Between January-March 2026

Within the scope of research activities and visits for institutional cooperation conducted by the Turkish Navy - Office of Navigation, Hydrography, and Oceanography (TN-ONHO) between January and March 2026:

1. Official Visits:

Rear Admiral (LH) Prof.Dr. Fatih ERDEN, Director of the Office of Navigation, Hydrography, and Oceanography - Turkish Navy (TN-ONHO), paid a visit to the Deputy Governor of Istanbul, Mr. Mehmet Sülün, on September 30, 2025.

2. Visits to the TN-ONHO HQ:

The following officials visited the ONHO HQ:

January 29, 2026: Dr. Mustafa BAŞKARA (Director of Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law - DEHUKAM) and Büşra DENİZ (Researcher at DEHUKAM).

February 2, 2026: Atakan ÇELEBİ (1st Regional Director of the General Directorate of Meteorology).

March 17, 2026: Prof. Dr. Haluk ÖZENER (Director, Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency, Istanbul Governorship).

3. Committee and Board Meetings

The meeting of the Executive and Steering Committee (KİYK) of the Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography Services Planning and Coordination Board was held on March 26, 2026.

4. International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Activities:

Graduation Ceremony: The graduation ceremony for the 14th Hydrography (FIG/IHO/ICA Category-B) Course was held on March 6, 2026. Diplomas were awarded to a total of seven trainees, including one officer, three petty officers, and three Guest Military Personnel.

International Participation:

East Asia Hydrographic Commission (EAHC) Meeting: February 3–5, 2026 (Tokyo, Japan),

Worldwide ENC Database Working Group (WENDWG) Meeting: February 25–27, 2026 (Hong Kong, China),

Mediterranean and Black Seas Hydrographic Commission (MBSHC) Meeting: March 30–April 2, 2026 (Marseille, France).

5. NATO Activities:

The Office participated in the Geospatial Requirements Working Group (GRWG) meeting held in Mons, Belgium, between March 24 and March 26, 2026.

6. Polar Research:

A staff member of the ONHO participated in the "10th National Antarctic Science Expedition," coordinated by the TÜBİTAK Polar Research Institute (KARE) from January 26 to March 3, 2026.
