2026 Ordinary Meeting of the Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography Services Planning and Coordination Board Held in İzmir

The “2026 Ordinary Meeting of the Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography Services Planning and Coordination Board (BOARD)” was held in İzmir on 11–12 May 2026, hosted by Dokuz Eylül University under the coordination of the Turkish Naval Forces Command Department of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography (ONHO).

Operating within the framework of the “Regulation on Navigation and Hydrography Services Planning and Coordination Board,” the presidency and secretariat functions of the BOARD are conducted by the ONHO.

The meeting brought together representatives from public institutions, universities and research organizations designated as BOARD members under the Regulation and operating in the fields of marine sciences, hydrography, oceanography and maritime research.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Head of the Turkish Naval Forces Command Department of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography, Rear Admiral Prof. Dr. Fatih ERDEN, and the Rector of Dokuz Eylül University, Prof. Dr. Bayram YILMAZ.

During the two-day meeting, various subjects related to maritime research, hydrographic and oceanographic activities, marine data management and scientific studies conducted in surrounding marine areas were addressed. The meeting concluded with the evaluation of BOARD decisions and the determination of the roadmap for the upcoming period.
